After the breakdown
of the Amathous Council and the return of the area under its jurisdiction
to their  rightful
owners, the Community Council of Mouttagiaka has placed under its
jurisdiction the area that extends from the village, passes through
the Limassol-Nicosia highway and reaches up to the coast.
This area, although small, has rapidly
developed during recent years, with tourist resorts, organised apartment
complexes, restaurants, taverns, night clubs and shops, that service
the tourists -but also the inhabitants of the area -all year round.
The coastal frontier, although
small in its size (about 500 meters), during the summer is packed
with bathers, foreign travellers, and Cypriots, enjoying the blue
sea and the crystal-clear, golden beach, which is cleaned twice
a day, under that bright blue Cyprus sky. There is only one small
hotel in the coastal area of Mouttagiaka, the AQUARIUS, which hosts
several tourists, especially during the summer season. During the
summer season there also are two Water Parks, the WET 'N' WILD WATER
PARK and the PIRATES WATER PARK, two places that can offer joy,
coolness, and unforgettable moments of fun to both young and old.
For the cinema lovers, the
K. CINEPLEX, one of the largest movie theatre complexes in Cyprus,
operates in Mouttagiaka. It has a cafeteria and five projection
halls that operate at the same time, with premiere movies being
played every day.
Foreign tourists -as well as
Cypriots -can have fun and enjoy the traditional Cypriot cuisine
and Cypriot hospitality in the taverns positioned along both sides
of the coastal road and in the surrounding area. The seafood tavern
AKTAION, the tavern Ksoporti, the restaurants OLD LIMASSOL and SPICES,
as well as the restaurant of the Nautical Club of Kerynia, all offer
great gastronomic pleasures and an extended wine-cellar. In RIO
BRAVO there is a great variety of Mexican food. In the heart of
the village, there's the seafood tavern HILL HOUSE and the FOROSOS
TAVERN. There are many Take-away restaurants in the tourism region
of Mouttagiaka, as well as Kebab Houses that offer the traditional
Cypriot "souvlaki" (shish kebab).
After the delightful meal, the tourism region
of Mouttagiaka can offer entertainment until daybreak. The COHI
BAR and the Club PRIVE offer a special note of entertainment with
Greek and foreign music. The Gentlemen's Club, the SILK & VELVET,
as well as the MIRAGE, offer their own different kind of program.
